SAP [NYSE: SAP] : Reimagine Your ERP with Nothing but the Best

Christian Klein, CEO and Member of the Executive Board It was during the global SAPPHIRE NOW conference this year when SAP SE [NYSE: SAP] announced a breakaway vision to create new business communities to be able to improve business outcomes, better navigate the dynamic economic and geopolitical conditions and enhance sustainability contributions. The first step toward achieving this was unveiled by SAP as it creates the world’s largest business network with SAP Business Network, which will bring together Ariba Network, SAP Asset Intelligence Network, and SAP Logistics Business Network. Over 5.5 million organizations stand to benefit from being members of this connected community.

In the same vein, SAP is also announcing new innovations geared toward helping companies digitalize and modernize their business processes to become intelligent enterprises. In addition, with a new portfolio of sustainability-specific business applications, customers can benefit from exceptional transparency and measurement capability across the supply chain. “During this unprecedented year, the importance of the communities we’re part of has never been clearer,” said Christian Klein, CEO and Member of the Executive Board of SAP SE. “Our new vision will build the world’s largest business community, enabling customers to easily connect with companies across supply chains and creating networked economies across industries.”

SAP also launched the RISE with SAP transformation packages for specific industries to enable every enterprise to become an intelligent enterprise. The RISE with SAP packages for specific industries delivers business transformation as a service with five initial industry-tailored cloud solutions for automotive, retail, utilities, consumer products, and industrial machinery and components.

Broaden Industry Expertise with RISE with SAP

Responding to growing customer interest, SAP has expanded its transformation-as-a-service offering RISE with SAP beyond SAP S/4HANA Cloud to human resources and procurement, along with a dedicated package for human experience management (HXM).

Many customers want a holistic, modular cloud ERP solution. All of this is delivered with one data and security model, and business process intelligence to ensure your processes are fully optimized and running industry best standards

“Many customers want a holistic, modular cloud ERP solution. All of this is delivered with one data and security model, and business process intelligence to ensure your processes are fully optimized and running industry best standards,” Klein said at the conference.

By bringing together the best of its 50 years of deep industry expertise and its partner ecosystem, SAP is all geared to provide industry-specific cloud-based solutions as-a-service. These solutions are built on SAP Business Technology Platform to provide organizations with the benefits of integration, analytics, extensibility, and one data model. Working natively with SAP S/4HANA Cloud, the solutions will enable every customer to get the full set of industry-specific solutions needed in their cloud deployment.

Enterprise-Wide Business Transformation for Seagate Technology

There is a second wave of enterprise resource planning (ERP) transformation underway, and businesses are transitioning to an intelligent ERP system that serves as the bedrock of continued sustainable growth. To capitalize on these opportunities, Seagate, the pioneer and leader in the data storage infrastructure solutions, has partnered with SAP to widen the scope of their technology innovation.

The impetus for choosing SAP S/4HANA was the constraints of Seagate’s existing ERP. Seagate’s leadership knew that the existing system was a limiting factor, which hindered the company’s ability to be a nimble and agile Industry 4.0 manufacturer. To keep pace with business model changes and make way into new market segments, it needed an integrated business process platform. Put simply, Seagate’s current ERP is so custom and optimized to high-volume drive manufacturing that a new business finds it exceedingly challenging when they have to go beyond drives.
Seagate is now squarely focused on replacing its highly customized IT landscape by leveraging industry-standard, best-in-class tools and processes, including implementing the SAP Integrated Business Planning for Supply Chain solution and SAP S/4HANA. SAP is a highly flexible and configurable platform, which will equip Seagate with the flexibility to choose how and where they run their ERP platform.

Embrace the New Way of Working with Cloud ERP

The pace of business and innovation has accelerated radically over the last few years. It has become clear that legacy enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems are not designed to satisfy almost every business, “version-lock” is the Achilles heel of their on-premise ERP. This is where SAP is changing the game for organizations worldwide as its vision of the Intelligent Enterprise in a digital world is poised for the future. SAP understands that customers are looking to transition to cloud ERP to facilitate timely access of business data by all users, from anywhere and on any device. This ensures that employees across an organization are working with the same set of data, no matter the location or business unit, and can make decisions swiftly and more confidently.

With the RISE with SAP offering, SAP S/4HANA Cloud— both public and private editions—helps customers to create a strong foundation for ERP over the cloud. RISE with SAP for Modular Cloud ERP extends the core offering with more value-add ERP modules in a variety of domains and lines of business, including but not limited to procurement, human experience management (HXM), analytics, and governance. Going forward, SAP plans to add more modules to the offering. Being modular, it plays an important part in customer success by empowering customers with the flexibility to pick and choose modules that are relevant to their business and industry. Highly appreciated suite qualities among the different products are combined from different lines of business together in one solution, with integration, modularity, and openness on top of such qualities.

Through the RISE with SAP offering, SAP’s business transformation as a service will help IT organizations lead the charge in business transformation and be an agent of change. For organizations, it is imperative to ensure success today and in the future with a foundation based on an exceptional ability to reach out to your customers as people—in the right way, at the right time, and with the right offer. SAP is here to help organizations be there for their customers to improve their lives and help the world run better
